Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi lauded on Tuesday the role of armed forces in counter-terrorism operations, including Radd-ul-Fasaad and Khyber-IV, during a meeting with army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

“The entire nation is proud of the sacrifices rendered by security personnel in ridding the motherland from the menace of terrorism”, a statement of the Prime Minister’s Office quoted Abbasi as saying.

Professional matters pertaining to Pakistan Army were discussed in the meeting, the communique read.

Abbasi’s 43-member cabinet sworn in

Abbasi was sworn in as the new PM of the country following Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the Supreme Court in a landmark judgement in Panama Papers case last month.

On Friday, President Mamnoon Hussain swore in a 43-member federal Cabinet as the ruling party’s top leadership – retaining most of the old faces – made some unexpected reshuffle at the crucial slots while appointing fulltime foreign and defence ministers.
